This x-ray look was created with mental ray render and animated with Maya.
The rig for the articulation system was animated useing lattice deformers, that were paranted to each side of the train wagon.

Ship motion graphics - Maya ocean texture and mental ray outlines
Just a simple motion graphic created with Maya and rendered with mental ray.
CAD model was around 20 million polygons, which had to be cleaned up first. Then it was rendered with simple mental ray shaders and the outline feature.
The ocean is just the ocean texture used as a bump map on a mia_material_x
This was for the Linde Clean Technology corporate image film created by Fiction Films.

Animated Mental ray proxies and fake caustics
Just a WIP previz work done with Maya. The animations weren´t used in the end.
All those washing machines are CAD models and imported into the scene as mental ray proxies. Poly count was at around 50 million. The mental ray proxies were exported once with materials and shaders and without, so those proxies without shader could be assigned with a new material, like occlusion and depth shader.
The pond surface is just a plane with the 2D ocean texture connected as a bump into a mia_material_x.
The same connection is done for the ocean shader.
The caustics in the pond are just animated grey scale caustic textures on the pond floor and walls. Those were taken from the substance shaders in Maya.

CGI cars animated with Craft 4-wheeler and Maya for commercial
For this project , we used Maya and craft 4wheeler extended to animated the 3D cars, which were then integrated into the backplate footage. For each shots we used custom made HDRIs, which helped to light the scenes.
Light poles, trees and other objects that casted shadows were remodeled in 3D.
Was responsible for shading and lighting and did some of the car animations. Used my Xbox controller for that :)

Some product renders created with Maya and mental ray
Did some CAD cleaning and 3D modeling for this product film. The Maya animation was then transferred onto animated cubes, which was done by a colleague.
Used mental ray for the renders.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012
Was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last Sunday July 1st.
Highlights was a huge Lotus collection of vintage Formula 1 cars and other vehicles.
Besides the Cartier 'Style et Luxe' displayed a selection of vehicles all personally owned or used by the Queen, celebrating her Diamond Jubilee.
Took lots of photos with my old Canon Ixus 700, should invest in a new camera once.

Laptop render and red line integration created with Maya
Quite an old project already.
Well did the 3D render of the laptop , as well as intergrating some of those red lines into the backplate footage.
The laptop was CAD data imported and cleaned within Maya.
First a short clip of the laptop render:

HumanIK , Paint Effects, Motion Capture and messing around with Maya visor presets and hamburgers
Ah well nothing exciting really, just a very short clip of using this HumanIK rig within maya 2013 and the basketball player character from the visor.
Found this Motion capture data on the web and attached it to the HumanIK rig. Added some paint effects and used some substance shaders to texture the scene.
Nothing special, also just rendered it with hardware render 2.0, its quick. :)

CAD data and some mental ray proxies for this product render
Created the product render for this Fujitsu server line. The server models were CAD data imported and cleaned with Maya.
The server cupboard was custom modelled after some photo reference. The shading and rendering was done with mental ray.
The animation filling the server cupboard was done with mental ray proxies, otherwise using only CAD data would have been too data-intensive.

Erotic font model created with Maya
Well created this 3d Erotic font, which was modeled in Maya. It was for a price comparison site, where also Erotic products could be evaluated.
Only uploaded the interesting part, with the 3d font itself :) The rest is anyway just this guy talking.
The whole commercial can be viewed here: youtube link

Maya ncloth simulation for a commercial
Created some ncloth simulation for this product film for a Siemens spot. Its actually already quite an old project. We worked on that last year, so nothing new to be honest.

Maya ncloth towel with vanishing stains
Short Clip of stains vanishing from a towel.
Modeled with Maya using ncloth and displacement maps.
The stains is filmed footage of real ink spreading across a surface, then reversed for the vanishing effect.
This is just a short clip that was used in a Siemens ad created at Fiction Films

BMW Alphacity - Crowded car park animated with Maya
Was a project with quite a time limit. Used Maya and the craft-4-wheeler plugin that comes with it.
Worked quite well, although sometimes it looks like as if the cars would crash. :)

Maya toon car driving test and some proxy renders with substance shaders
just a quick test of a toon shader rendered with mental ray outlines. Also created a parking lot and rendered it with mi render proxies to be able to handle all the geometry. All in all it was about 20 Million polygons, since I also used Maya fur for the grass.
The plants were downloaded from Autodesk seek and the ivy created with the ivy creator.
All textures were created with the substance shaders in Maya 2012.
It was just a test to implement a toon car into an environment, so its nothing final, just a test.
Also tested the capabilities of craft animation plugin for Maya.
Just messing about with it :)
We later used it in a project at Fiction Films.
